What types of additives are used in cosmetics?
In cosmetics production, both vitamins and essential oils as well as acid regulators and preservatives are used. When a customer purchases a product subsequently, its aromas and essences play a decisive role. Sweeteners and sugar substitutes such as saccharine are used in the oral care sector due to their effects on flavour. Energy ingredients are selected for their skin care properties for cosmetics. Which substances are permitted and may be processed are regulated by international agreements and EU law (REACH). The latter also regulates the European states’ labelling obligations.
